Questions about Target Group

Who is an ElliptiGO model (Stand-Up & Elliptical) suitable for?

An ElliptiGO bike is suitable for a wide range of users – from recreational athletes and ambitious endurance runners to health-focused individuals. It is ideal for anyone looking for a low-impact alternative to running or wanting to add more variety to their outdoor training.

The Stand-Up Bikes provide versatile training that improves endurance, cardiovascular fitness, supports fat burning, and aids in weight management. At the same time, they promote functional outdoor training and offer a joint-friendly alternative to jogging.

The Elliptical Bike combines the riding feel of a bicycle with the smooth motion of a cross trainer. The result is a fluid, efficient, and impact-free movement pattern that is particularly well suited for long distances, steady endurance training, and preventive fitness programs.

Is there a weight limit for use?

Yes. Depending on the model, the maximum rider weight is generally between approximately 115–130 kg (250–285 lbs). The exact specification depends on the model and can be found in the respective technical data.

Is there a minimum or maximum rider height?

ElliptiGO bikes can be individually adjusted to the rider’s height. The goal is to ensure a proper, upright riding posture at all times. The handlebar height is adjustable, and on Elliptical Bikes the stride length can additionally be adjusted in four settings.

Questions about Safety and Materials

What materials is the ElliptiGO made of?

ElliptiGO bikes are primarily made of lightweight, high-quality aluminum combined with durable components.

What type of brakes are installed?

The Stand-Up Bikes are equipped with disc brakes, while the Elliptical Bikes feature Shimano V-brake rim brakes.

Can the ElliptiGO be ridden in the rain?

Yes, the ElliptiGO is weather-resistant and suitable for riding in the rain. However, as with any two-wheeled vehicle, extra caution is advised in wet conditions.

Is special footwear required for riding?

No. Regular athletic shoes with good grip are sufficient. Optionally, pedals with foot straps can be used to make the motion even more efficient.

What type of gearing do the bikes have?

Depending on the model, the bikes are equipped with either hub or derailleur gearing systems. SUB models use Shimano derailleur systems, while the Elliptical Bikes feature low-maintenance hub gears from Sturmey Archer or Shimano Alfine.

Questions about Training

Which muscle groups are trained with the ElliptiGO?

Training with the ElliptiGO primarily activates the thighs, calves, glutes, and hip flexors. In addition, the core, abdominal, and back muscles are engaged, as the bike is ridden in a standing position.

Is the ElliptiGO easier on the joints than jogging?

Yes. The elliptical pedaling motion significantly reduces impact stress. Compared to jogging, the knees, hips, and ankles are considerably less strained.

Can you lose weight with the ElliptiGO?

Yes. Thanks to the intensive full-body workout and the ability to complete longer training sessions, the ElliptiGO is highly effective for weight loss—especially when combined with a balanced diet.

What level of workout intensity does the ElliptiGO provide?

Training with the ElliptiGO is highly intensive. Compared to cycling, a significantly higher workload can be achieved while the movement remains low-impact on the joints.

How intense is the workout compared to running?

The workout is comparable to running or light uphill running, but it can usually be sustained for longer since the strain is more evenly distributed.

How many calories do you burn with the ElliptiGO?

Energy expenditure depends heavily on intensity, body weight, and terrain. Especially during interval training or on hilly terrain, the workload is high and the training effect correspondingly intense.

Is the workout more suitable for endurance or strength training?

It is primarily an endurance workout, while also providing a strengthening effect for the legs and core. It therefore combines endurance and muscular endurance training.

Can you do interval training with the ElliptiGO?

Yes. With gear changes, speed variations, and inclines, ElliptiGO models are very well suited for interval and HIIT-oriented training sessions.

How does the ElliptiGO differ from traditional cycling?

Unlike traditional cycling, you ride the stand-up bike in an upright position with a running-like motion, activating more muscles. The elliptical bike uses an elliptical movement pattern similar to jogging.

Questions about Usage

Is the ElliptiGO approved for use on public roads?

ElliptiGO models are legally classified as bicycles and must comply with German road traffic regulations (StVZO). Therefore, they are delivered as standard with a bell and spoke reflectors. StVZO-compliant lighting is required and can be purchased optionally.

Can you ride an ElliptiGO uphill?

Yes, all models are equipped with gears. Depending on the model, they feature hub or derailleur gear systems with up to 11 gears.

How fast can you go on an ElliptiGO?

Typical speeds range from 15–25 km/h, depending on the model, terrain, and fitness level. Higher speeds of up to around 40 km/h are also possible for short periods.

Why doesn’t the ElliptiGO have arm movements like a gym cross trainer?

On the ElliptiGO, the upper body is actively used for stabilization. This effectively engages the upper arms and core muscles while also supporting forward propulsion.

Is the ElliptiGO suitable for longer distances?

Yes. Many athletes comfortably ride distances of 20 to 50 km or more. The Elliptical Bikes in particular are designed for long, steady rides.
